Dn. Nabin Kerketta was ordained as a 62nd priest of the Catholic Diocese of Sambalpur by Most Rev. Kishor Kumar Kujur, Bishop of Rourkela on 10th January 2016 in Catholic Church, Gomardihi. The mass began at 7 a.m. in the morning accompanied by entrance procession. It was very colorful to see the dance. They welcomed priests, Bishops and the priestly candidate with entrance dance. He was accompanied by his parents to the altar through entrance procession.
There were three bishops, 50 priests, many sisters and more than 2000 people present in priestly ordination. Whole atmosphere was cool and serene. People maintained the spirit of sacredness of the priestly ordination. Liturgical songs were sung well and it was very devotional to participate in singing because the songs were known to people very well. Lot of creativities were done during priestly ordination.
Bishop Kishor Kumar Kujur, bishop of Rourkela emphasized in the sermon the call of a priest and its duty. He said that a priest is called from people and made new creation. He is chosen among people and strengthened to be the leader and guide of the people of God. He is called to work for the people of God. He has not chosen but Christ chose him to be his follower and made him to bear the gospel before his people. He also said that a priest is called and set apart to do his mission. He is among the people and for the people. Bishop Kishor thanked the parents for dedicating their young son to work in the vineyard of God.
